(City Council approves agreement)…It came at a special joint meeting
Tuesday.
The meeting was between the El Centro Regional Medical
Center and the El Centro City Council. The
agreement is a long-term management services
agreement on behalf of ECRMC and UC San Diego
Health Sciences. El Centro Mayor Efrain Silva said the Hospital
Affiliation Task Force dedicated significant resources to search for a
strategic partner that would enhance availability and quality health care
services for the entire Imperial Valley. He said they found that partner in
UC San Diego Health System. UCSD says they will take the next 90
days to study every aspect of ECRMC. They will then report on what
services UCSD will provide as it manages El Centro Regional. UCSD
CEO Paul Vibiano said through this collaboration, they would strive to
deliver superior health outcomes, service experience and affordability
to patients in Imperial Valley. Viviano ECRMC becomes part of their
mission of delivering outstanding patient care through commitment to
the community, groundbreaking research and inspired teaching.
