Biography
Before joining Kaiser
Permanente in 2004, I
was in practice for
nearly 20 years in
Arizona. I began
practice there as a
nephrologist (kidney
specialist), but over
the years became
more drawn to general
internal medicine and
geriatrics.

If you are sick, Kaiser will
probably help you. By
design, most
commonly-occurring
problems are included the
lists of symptoms Kaiser
Permanente acknowledges
and treats.
Statistically-speaking, you're
likely to get adequate care.
Just make sure you don't
present with unusual
symptoms. If your disease is
life-threatening, but your
symptoms and the correct
diagnosis aren't on Kaiser's
lists, then you stand a good
chance of dying. The
doctors seem to be on
automatic pilot. Most of the
doctors I've dealt with are
very rigid. They are blind to
anything not on the list of
things they're told to check
for.

Administrator
I asked Rodger Dougherty (see Public
Relations below), Member Services
(above), Lynette Seid (Medical
Records) and Andrew Golden (see
above right under executive medical
director Paul Bernstein) for the names
of primary care administrators, but no
one would tell me. What's the big
secret? I finally pestered the
Appointments Department until they
finally gave up the name of Chief
Physician Michael Lalich, but they
wouldn't tell me the Dept.
Administrator. I suspect I'll eventually
find out.

Update: Obviously, I've gathered some
names of secretive administrators in
Primary Care, as you can see at left.
