Kaiser Member Services clearly believes that its mission is to protect doctors, not
patients.  This isn't true of all the people at the bottom of the hierarchy, but it is
certainly true of those at the top.

Your Best Doctor Is Not At Kaiser Permanente

This year is my first year in a while that I actually have health insurance. I AM COVERED! So you may
think I would be ecstatic and heading to the doctor any chance I can...that is not the case.

My husband and I chose to go through Kaiser Permanente since neither of us had gone through
them before, and it was cheaper. Their website is a plethora of health, wellness and nutritional
information. They show pictures of people outside smiling and healthy, with their doctors looking so
caring and helpful. Online they give tips on how to be healthy or they give nutrition information, and if
their offices were anything like what they show online they might be on to something.

The story they tell online is quite the opposite of what I have experienced.

So far this is what my experience with the medical "wellness" center that Kaiser Permanente has
been:

A few minutes before entering you smell the smell of Kaiser, a strange chemical scent that wafts
through the entire building that makes me feel woozy and gives me a headache.
Staff members who aren't all that warm and friendly, I am still waiting on some positive experiences
with them.
Waiting on the telephone to make an appointment only to be transferred to multiple areas of call
centers who are unfamiliar with guidelines and the different areas of Kaiser Permanente.
A redo service, because they gave me too strong of an eye prescription.
Trying to get an appeal for my wrong eye prescription service, through the
corporation head (you are unable to resolve conflicts in a local office).
Staff that does not communicate with the doctors. Doctors leave and you may not know
where to go, nurses and doctors may not be in unison and may send you to different
places.
Doctors asking you the same questions they did last time you saw them because they
don't always read their charts.

This experience has been accumulated over the past 4 months and I really wish I felt
better about Kaiser since they are my medical provider.
